Jayakumar was the son of legendary producer A.K. Velan and he was also a respected documentary photographer. His son Siva follows his way and become a cinematographer before he enters into the directional field. He is survived with his wife, elder son Siva, younger son Bala and grandchildren.
Siva is well known for as a commercial filmmaker, currently, he is working on a superstar Rajinikanth’s project called Annaatthe. In coming days the Annaatthe team has planned to go shoot after a long time. But unfortunately his dad Jayakumar has passed away today due to natural causes.
In 2008, he narrated a story to actor Gopichand who agrees to play a lead role in a movie called Souryam. This the debut film for Siva, but It was not started well for him the becomes more average after that he did one more movie called Sankham that also the same as before. Then after some period of time, he has signed a film called Siruthai, It is a remake of the 2006 Telugu film Vikramarkudu, directed by S. S. Rajamouli. In which Karthi & Tamannaah plays a lead role in god’s grace the film has become the blockbuster of the year and after this, the people called Siva as a Siruthai Siva.
Then he had an opportunity to meet the Thala Ajith in 2014 and signed a move called Veeram. It also becomes the blockbuster and it satisfies the family audience and Thala fans as well. Due to this success, he has worked continues three films with Thala Ajith and Siva become the most favourite person for thala.
Jayakumar’s younger son Bala was born into a family closely associated with the film industry, with his grandfather being the owner of the Arunachala Studios. His father Jayakumar has directed more than 350 films and documentaries. He made his debut in the Tamil film Anbu on 2003, then he acted and found success in a Malayalam film.
After a long gap, with the help of his brother Siva, he comeback into Tamil film industry by the movie Ajith Kumar’s Veeram. We all know the success of the film, then with help of the success, he again got the opportunity to grow the position in Tamil film industry.
The funeral of Jayakumar is expected to be held in Chennai on Saturday 28th November
